What are Plantar Warts and what are the causes?
Plantar Warts are noncancerous skin growths caused by virus found on the bottom of the foot. These warts are not harmful but can cause irritation and discomfort. They can differ in size and can grow in clusters known as mosaic warts.
What are the symptoms and possible treatments?
There are a number of treatments available including over-the-counter medications which are usually about 50-50% effective. We can use prescription medication to get rid of the virus by strengthening the immune system. The treatment can be challenging since the warts are lying beneath the skins surface and it does take some time for the treatment to be effective. If needed a small in-office surgical procedure can be done in order to eliminate any wart tissue.
